# Abyssno’i ## Species - [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] The [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]]are a humanoid species on [[Nadlee'han💭]] whose cognition is shaped by a species-wide evolution toward monotropic focus, precision reasoning, and deep emotional resonance. Their brains differ from [[Species - Humans ✅]] in four defining ways: - **The Monotropic Loop**: A greatly expanded and hyper-connected monotropic network (linking the anterior insula, dorsal attention system, and parietal cortex) creates intense, interest based focus. Each Abyssno’i forms a lifelong [[Eidet'elu✅|Special Interest]], called [[Eidet'elu✅]] —an intellectual identity that guides their learning, expertise, and purpose. They sustain these with great endurance, intensity, and detail orientation and achieve unmatched mastery within their chosen domain. - **The Precision Reasoning Cortex**: Enhanced development of fronto-parietal reasoning areas supports highly detailed, logical, and literal information processing. Abyssno’i argue with exactness, favor explicit truth over implication, and excel at deep analysis and system reconstruction. Their communication style prioritizes clarity and verifiability, often at the expense of social nuance. - **The Emotional Resonance Core**: A strengthened amygdala–hippocampal complex produces rich emotional experience, vivid affect, and enduring emotional [[memory]]. Abyssno’i are deeply emotionally empathetic and form powerful, lifelong emotional bonds. Their sensitivity, however, can lead to overwhelm when emotional intensity collides with cognitive rigidity. - **The Cognitive Empathy Gap**: Reduced integration between the temporo-parietal junction and prefrontal social-inference networks limits their ability to intuit complex motives or detect hidden agendas. They tend to assume honesty, take statements at face value, and may be easily exploited by more socially strategic species. Once deception is recognized, however, their emotional loyalty can shift abruptly and decisively. **In short**: Abyssno’i combine intense monotropic focus and precise logical reasoning with deep emotional empathy and a limited capacity to infer hidden motives and cope with sensory overstimulation. They are brilliant, principled, loyal—and profoundly vulnerable to manipulation. As a consequence, Abyssno’i culture is centered around deep expertise and intense personal bonds. It’s also highly vulnerable to stress and sensory overwhelm, and suffers from, sometimes contemptuous, disregard of basic survival needs like provision of food, shelter, and physical protection. These aspects of brain evolution have also made their footprint in the perceptive system of the Abyssno’i: They have a visual perception of [[Thoughts]] and reasonings as well as emotional resonnance, interweaving their perception of the material environment with an extra layer. While this can be extremely helpful, e.g, because they can literraly see lines of conflicts, breaks in logical argumentation etc., this can also be a liability for two reasons: 1. **Risk of overwhelm**: The additional layers of perception make the Abyssno’i brain sensitive to overwhelm, resulting in either a Shutdown and/or a Meltdown, depending on character and circumstances. 2. **Risk of overconfidence:** The visual competence to see [[Thoughts]] and emotions is highly selective, depending on the monotropic focus of the individual. So while they are extremely capable of identifying and understanding situational aspects and patterns of reasoning that align with their [[Eidet'elu✅]], they can be hyposensitive or even outright ignorant of aspects and phenomena outside of their [[Eidet'elu✅]], leading to blind spots in awareness and challenges to accept aspects of reality that they don’t see as relevant. Physically, Abyssno’i look relatively similar to [[Species - Humans ✅|Humans]], but with a bigger variety in physical shapes and sizes - they come from tiny to giant, from super slim to extremely fat, from unfit to the extreme of mobility impariments to exageratedly muscular and fit. They all share some peculiarites in their sensory organs - slightly bigger and sligtly pointed ears, slightly bigger eyes with a larger and more colorful iris and pupil, large and flexible lips, tongue, and noses, and a soft, very receptive skin, that visually reacts to external stimuly with rushes of barely visible colorful and sometimes even glowing patterns. As they are quite selective [[About Me and My Work]] sensory input, they prefer to live with as few clothes as possible. Whenever possible, they are naked - as they don’t know shame around bodies at all -, if they need clothes for protection, warmth, or out of respect for negative feelings of other species, they will chose soft, easy to wear clothes like simple, kaftan-like [[Fara✅]], or loincloth-like [[Foor✅]] Abyssno’i tend to live as loners, or in small but deeply connected couples or one on one friendships. Most [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] are either disinterested in sexual relationships or on the opposite side of the spectrum, seeking all forms of physical intimacy, flirting, and sexuality as part of their passions and interests. This has major consequences for the way children are conceived and raised: As [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] couldn’t rely on natural desire to stabilize procreation, they have evolved a separation of sexual pleasure and biological procreation. When they are having sex, they are actually sterile, not needing birth control. Their desire to procreate has shifted into another area, combining with their emotional resonance core: They feel immense pleasure from the idea of giving birth to new individuals, and therefore love to engage in procreation with individuals they feel emotionally drawn to. However, this is not done via sex in the conventional sense; instead, when emotionally attuned, they can exchange germ cells with their entire skin. As this is a reciprocal process, the difference between male and female has eroded over time. Thus, [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] have a far richer gender spectrum than [[Species - Humans ✅|Humans]], and almost all [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] can both conveive children and help others to do so. On the social side, they have developed a rich diversity of gender identities, with some individuals ignoring any gendered expression at all, and others playfully combining male, female, and other traits to colorful and individualistic forms of gender expression. For simplicity, they use they/them pronouns across the whole species. It’s important to note that this didn’t lead to an unrecongnizable blend of gender neutrality - the opposite is true. Both physically and socially, we find the whole spectrum of gender expressions in all nuances and variations; and seeking the exact resonance in partners can be a topic of intense conversation, deliberation, and confusion in the [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] culture. WIth this multitude of gender expressions and resulting forms of relationships - often involving complex multi individual networks of layered relationships -, the concept of familiy has also evolved into the idea of a chosen family independent of bloodlines. Children are taken care of collectively, sometimes in complex arrangements that will be deliberated endlessly (but usually peacefully) in the [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] culture. Biological parenthood is relatively unimportant, and many [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] will form bonds early on with other adults who share their [[Elu'varin✅]], or happen to be partners to their biological parents. As a consequence, they do not feel the need to further nurish parent relationships after the age of 7-8 if there isn’t a personal interest in each other. When [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] grow up, they need to go through an intense process of self-discovery called [[Elu'varin✅]]. During this phase, an [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] explores their emotional inclinations, their relational patterns, their gender expression, and the unique contours of their monotropic mind. It is considered neither a [[scrybble/Test]] nor a transformation in the strict sense, but an _unfolding_ — the revelation of a coherent identity that has been present in latent form since early childhood. Abyssno’i have a special relationship to the [[Species - Magox’i✅]] , as they share the same habitat - the island of [[Nadlee'han💭]]. The relationship between Abyssno’i and [[Species - Magox’i✅]] and their joint [[Connection]] to [[Nadlee'han💭]] can be considered a spoiler, although it does not directly contribute to the resolution of the core story of the book. In the season of Thyssi’en, the [[Species - Magox’i✅]] effectively enslave the Abyssno’i, exploiting their naivety and their difficulty securing nutrition, housing, and physical protection. During this phase, the [[Species - Magox’i✅]] use (and at times abuse) them as service providers for the visiting [[Species - Ksall'i ✅]], who bring essential resources to the island. The [[Species - Magox’i✅]] become the rulers of [[Nadlee'han💭]], running the city, the business, the [[Nostri’con]], and the [[Lupag’on]], where the [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssnoi]] have to work as waiters, sex-workers, story-tellers, cleaning staff, and, if they are lucky, as knowlege guides in the [[Eidet'naos ✅|Eidet’naos]]. They also typically serve as easy pseudo-friends and sexual partners for the [[Species - Magox’i✅]] who want to prevent the overpopulation from their unstoppable fertility. > > In the season of [[Flor’een]], this dynamic reverses. The Abyssno’i — supported by the magic of [[Nadlee'han💭]] — govern the island, while the [[Species - Magox’i✅]] collapse into a state of bare survival, called [[Inermors’sigil]]: a trance-like, depressive torpor in which they lie immobile, experience disturbing dreams, and become physically heavy to the point of hardly being able to move. Because they are barely conscious in this state, [[Species - Magox’i✅]] culture is unaware of what happens to them during [[Flor’een]]. When they awaken at the beginning of [[Thysi’een]] they simply assume they had a bad night’s sleep and are confused about why they have grown slim, unfit, and forgetful. In [[Flor’een]], [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] mostly ignore [[Species - Magox’i✅]] , simply transporting them to central places and tending to them only for basic survival. In this process, a lot of [[Species - Magox’i✅]] goods and posessions are thrown into caves, dumps, and other hiding places on the island, creating the [[Thesacur’an]]. > > In the broader perspective, the Abyssno’i seem to “benefit” more, as they consciously rule during their season while the [[Species - Magox’i✅]] remain oblivious to theirs. Yet [[Thysi’een]] is extremely hard for the Abyssno’i, and the [[Species - Magox’i✅]] also profit: without the Abyssno’i, they would be unable to attract the [[Species - Ksall'i ✅]] visitors they depend on for survival. > > Socially, the relationship between [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] and [[Species - Magox’i✅]] is superficial. In [[Thysi’een]], [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno’i]] either disappear in niche roles of little interest for the [[Species - Magox’i✅]], e.g., guiding visitors in the [[Eidet'naos ✅]], but also routine work like accounting. Or, if they happen to serve in a customer facing role, they will put on a deliberately made up role, their [[Kso'varin ✅]]. Often, one [[Species - Magox’i✅]] will be surrounded by several [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]], working for it, but also providing social recognition, sexual intimacy, and the illusion of friendship or even love. [[Species - Magox’i✅]] will often perceive this made up behavior as genuinely interested in them, nurturing their false believe to have deep relationships and love with their assigned [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno’i]] - while in reality, The individual behind the [[Kso'varin ✅]] will often have neutral or even dismissive feelings for “their” [[Species - Magox’i✅]]. However, there are exceptions, and in rare cases - like for [[Xandro ✅|Xandro]] and [[1 • Projects/P • Das Buch/Floflake 01.0 - Act Level Draft - 2026-04/Lou|Lou]], they develop a genuine friendship based on mutual understanding and love. > > The [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] are the only species who is aware of the [[Relation’in✅|Relation'in]] cycle and the physics of the island. As the knowledge is considered dangerous, the related [[Eidet'naos ✅]] is disguised as specializing on the process of [[Elu'varin✅]] - preventing most [[Species - Ksall'i ✅|Ksall'i]] from showing any interest. A part from the generally research focused monotropic mind, the reason for this is that Abyssno’i can actually visually perceive the R-field. They can not directly manipulate it, however, they have discovered various ways to use r-matter and physical processes to store, transport, and purify it, using e.g. the [[Jezz'ir]] plant for the process of [[Elu'varin✅]]. This practice, that is basically a form of engineering, seems magical for [[Species - Magox’i✅]], [[Species - Ksall'i ✅|Ksall'i]] and humans due to lack of deeper understanding of the matter. > > Religion and spirituality in [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssnoi]] is defined by their monotropic brain and their deep empathy and loyalty. They do not ‘believe’ in stories and myths, as they know, that anything they can’t explain has probably just not been researched yet. In that sense, they do not share the strong spiritual faith of the other species. However, they do know that the [[Kaiur'naos]] and the [[Jezz'ir]] plant are special places - after all, they can visually see the special state of [[Relation’in✅]] there, they can perceive the difference between normal and [[Relation’in✅|r-matter]] - and at the same time, they see the spiritual perspective that [[Species - Magox’i✅]] and [[Species - Ksall'i ✅|Ksall'i]] have on these places. So they do value the holy place, the plants, and, to a certain extent, the books around the [[Kaiuree ✅|Kaiuree]] religion - but more in a mix of research, philosophical reflection, and sensual pleaure. They do not believe that [[Thaksir]] exists, as they have ancient records from the time before they stopped visiting [[Ksall'han]] that report that there’s no special [[Relation’in✅]] field around the [[Thalan’oruun]]. In their mythology, the [[Kaiuree ✅|Kaiuree]] represents a special, perhaps even holy place and, in the ancient texts talking about this, this symbol is associated with knowledge, wisdom, and [[Eidet'elu✅]]. They believe that the orally told narratives about the [[Kaiuree ✅|Kaiuree]] are simple stories that less intelligent species tell each other to explain complex phenomena. However, they do share the idea with the [[Species - Magox’i✅]] that there is a [[TBD Book to Heal The World]]. For them, they do not think of it as a magical or religious text, but as a very concrete text that provides ancient knowledge, written by an [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅|Abyssno'i]] with an [[Eidet'elu✅]] around deep physics and metaphysics of the world that will contain concrete recommendations on what to do if the world should be in a majore [[Relation’in✅]] imbalance that the island of [[Nadlee'han💭|Nadlee’han]] seems not to be able to cope with and that threatens their existence.
