# Science and Magic ## [[Relation’in✅|Relation'in]] Magic > [!danger]- Major Spoiler > ### A Treatise on Relation’in and the Coherence of Nadlee’han > > *By NN, [[Eidet'naos ✅]] of [[Jezz'ir]]* > #### 1. On the Existence of [[Relation’in✅]] > > All systems in our world consist of three interwoven strata: > matter, energy, and Relation’in. > > Matter shapes form. > Energy shapes motion. > Relation’in shapes coherence — the degree to which a system’s parts stand in ordered connection with one another. > > To beings unfamiliar with [[Nadlee'han💭|Nadlee’han]], Relation’in is often mistaken for sensation or magic, but this is a category error. > Relation’in is neither emotion nor symbol. > It is a field, measurable in principle, though not yet by continental instruments, that arises wherever entities, forces, or events become connected. > > Every bond, whether biological, cognitive, or spatial, generates a localized pattern within the R-field. > The quality of these patterns determines whether a system thrives or collapses. > > #### 2. On the Three States of Relation’in > > Through long observation, the [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅]] have identified three fundamental states: > > ##### 1. Raw Relation’in, also called [[Conforion'in]] > High in amplitude, chaotic in structure. > It forms around beings who carry numerous unresolved, conflicting, or shifting relational threads. > It is abundant among visitors from Ksall’han. > > > ##### 2. Turbulent Relation’in, also called [[Ekstion'in]] > This state emerges when too many raw R-signatures accumulate. > The field becomes noisy, unstable, difficult to parse. > Nadlee’han can tolerate turbulence only for a limited span. > > > ##### 3. Coherent Relation’in, also called [[Jezzirion'in]] > Highly ordered, phase-stable, low-entropy R. > Required for the stability of the island and the survival of the Abyssno’i. > Achieved only through systematic purification. > > > > These states are not moral categories. > They are physical configurations of the relational field. > > #### 3. On the Nature of Nadlee’han as R-Matter > > Unlike the continental landmasses, [[Nadlee'han💭|Nadlee’han]] is composed not of classical matter alone but of matter infused with a high-density [[Relation’in✅|r-field]], producing what scholars classify as R-matter. > > [[Relation’in✅|r-matter]] has three distinguishing properties: > > It is self-organizing, maintaining structural coherence through internal R-resonance. > > It is semi-permeable, allowing [[Relation’in✅]] to enter, but resisting chaotic penetration beyond a threshold. > > It is seasonally adaptive, altering its field configuration in response to global R-flux. > > > Thus, the island behaves not as an inert geological object but as a relational ecosystem, responding dynamically to the patterns of those who enter its domain. > > #### 4. On the Cycles of Thysi’een and Flor’een > > ##### [[Thysi’een]] — The Season of Overflow > > During Thysi’een, the R-field of Nadlee’han opens. > Visitors arrive bearing Raw Relation’in. > The [[Species - Magox’i✅]], whose biology is adapted to consume amplitude rather than coherence, flourish during this time. > Their systems metabolize the turbulence as vitality. > > The [[Species - Abyssno’i ✅]], in contrast, expend enormous quantities of internal R to maintain cognitive and emotional stability. > Their monotropy is disrupted by excessive flux, and their purification capacity collapses. > The island, deprived of coherent R input, begins to drift toward structural fragility. > > ##### [[Flor’een]] — The Season Coherencence > > When turbulence exceeds the tolerable limit, Nadlee’han undergoes a phase transition. > The island generates a protective shell of highly ordered Relation’in, restricting further influx. > This resembles a sudden shift from one thermodynamic state to another — an event continental scholars might liken to a superconductive phase boundary. > > During Flor’een, the Abyssno’i regain their clarity. > We withdraw into deep focus, performing the purification work that transforms accumulated turbulence into Coherent Relation’in. > The island is restored. > The Magox’i enter a lethargic state, deprived of the amplitude they require. > > These cycles form the heartbeat of Nadlee’han. > > > #### 5. On the Purification of Relation’in > > Purification is neither ritual performance nor moral judgment. > It is a reordering of patterns within the R-field. > > Raw R carries many overlapping signatures — memories, attachments, hopes, fears, contradictions. > When too many such signatures accumulate, the field loses coherence. > > Abyssno’i cognition, shaped over generations, is optimized for recognizing pattern truth: the deep structure beneath noise. > Through focused work — often involving the plant Jezz’ir, which amplifies the resonance of coherent R — we disentangle R-patterns, stabilize their phases, and convert them into a usable form. > > This work sustains both our species and the island itself. > > > #### 6. On the Exchange with Ksall’han > > The continent is a region of R-field scarcity and turbulence. > Its civilizations generate immense quantities of Raw Relation’in through constant conflict, desire, and broken connection. > > Nadlee’han relies upon this influx. > The Magox’i attract it. > The Abyssno’i purify it. > Purified R then radiates outward, subtly stabilizing relational fields across the world. > > Thus, the survival of the island and the balance of the continent are interdependent. > > > #### 7. On the Significance of Relation’in > > Relation’in is the substrate upon which all meaning, connection, and coherence rest. > Where it is strong, systems flourish. > Where it collapses, entropy accelerates. > If it were ever lost entirely, the world would not fall apart violently — it would simply cease to cohere. > > #### 8. On the Necessity of Balance Within Relation’in > > It must be emphasized that Relation’in does not seek stasis but dynamic balance. The field exists in three principal regimes — Raw, Ekstatic, and Coherent — and none of these can sustain the world in isolation. Should the field drift entirely into Raw Relation’in, the world would persist yet cease to evolve, trapped in an endless haze of unshaped potential. Were Ekstation’in to dominate, the amplitude would rise beyond tolerable limits, and all structures—material and relational—would burn in overwhelming novelty. And if Coherent Relation’in prevailed without interruption, the world would harden into perfect pattern: flawless, motionless, unable to adapt. Thus Nadlee’han, and indeed all of Etral’han, survives through the interplay of these states. Thysi’een introduces movement and turbulence; Flor’een restores clarity and form. Between these extremes, the world keeps its shape not by stillness, but by continuously rediscovering equilibrium. > > Nadlee’han teaches us that connection is not a metaphor. > It is physics. > > #### Post Scriptum > I feel obliged to remind the reader that this knowledge is dangerous and cannot be entrusted to anyone unable to access and thrive on [[Jezzirion'in]]. While I do believe that knowledge is a vital resource and the truth should be available to everyone, even [[Species - Magox’i✅]] and [[Species - Ksall'i ✅|Ksall'i]], we need to be protective of beings unable to cope with the truth in order not to disturb the global balance. > Should this knowledge ever fall into the hands of [[Species - Magox’i✅]], it would be contaminated with [[Ekstion'in]], leading to unforseeable chaos and a destruction of first Nadlee’han, then the whole of Etral’han. > Should this knowledge fall into the hands of [[Species - Ksall'i ✅|Ksall'i]], they would depurify it with their [[Conforion'in]], sending [[Nadlee'han💭]] to an endless sleep and also killing [[Etral'han💭|Etral’han]] , but slower. > And, this is a case I almost do not dare to mention: should ever someone from outside [[Etral'han💭]] - and we don’t know it these exist, but the legends the [[Kaiuree ✅|Kaiuree]] warn us from these visitors, the [[Species - Humans ✅|Salv'alli]], get in touch with this knowledge, we can’t even think of what’s going to happen. Because [[Species - Humans ✅|Salv'alli]] crave [[Relation’in✅]] in a way that’s out of any balance. They would literally devour our very source of [[Jezzirion'in]], the fruits of the [[Jezz'ir]] plant, transforming the R-field into profane, energy based matter. This would allow them to move between worlds, meet the [[Kaiuree ✅]] in person - and not only destroy, but cancel out [[Etral'han💭]] in the process. We wouldn’t even die - we would stop existing. Any [[Species - Humans ✅|Salv'alli]] that gets this knowledge needs to die immediately. > > --- > > ### A Physicist’s Commentary on the Abyssno’i Tractate > > Although this tractate describes a fictional world, many of its ideas echo real concepts in modern physics. The notion of Relation’in as a field that exists not inside objects but between them closely resembles several serious theories. In quantum physics, for example, particles do not exist in isolation—what matters is the relationship between them: how they are entangled, how they interact, and how information flows across the system. In certain interpretations of quantum gravity and relational quantum mechanics, the universe is not made of “things,” but of relations. The idea that coherence can be high or low, and that noise can degrade the stability of a system, is also very similar to real discussions in information theory and thermodynamics, where structure decays unless energy—or information—is constantly supplied. > > The tractate’s description of Nadlee’han as “R-matter” also has a real-world analogue: in physics, there exist exotic phases of matter that behave differently depending on the underlying fields that stabilize them—superconductors, condensates, and even hypothetical dark-matter structures. The seasonal shifts between Thysi’een and Flor’een resemble phase transitions, where a system abruptly reorganizes itself when a threshold of disorder or energy is crossed. Finally, the purification of Relation’in parallels the way quantum systems lose coherence through interaction with their environment and must be carefully “de-noised” to function. None of these parallels are literal, but the tractate’s framework is a remarkably accurate metaphor for the frontier areas of physics: a universe where connection, coherence, and information are just as fundamental as matter and energy. > > From a physics standpoint, this fictional system closely resembles how complex fields behave in nonlinear dynamics. A relational field that can exist in “raw,” “coherent,” and “high-amplitude” states mirrors real concepts such as phase transitions, entropy gradients, and the balance between order and chaos in self-organizing systems. No physical field in our universe is conserved as a fixed quantity; instead, its configuration depends on the interaction of its sources, just as Relation’in depends on the quality of connections in the world. The idea that pure coherence would lead to stasis, excessive turbulence to breakdown, and raw unformed structure to stagnation reflects a deep truth from complexity science: living systems persist only at the shifting boundary between stability and instability. In that sense, the fictional mechanics of Nadlee’han echo real principles from thermodynamics and information theory, while transforming them into an emotionally meaningful cosmology. ^c20810 ## Book Walking Magical System - Core Premise While [[Element X ✅|Element X]] translates into different species and the physics of [[Relation’in✅|Relation'in]] in [[Etral'han💭|Etral’han]], it’s a different matter in [[Allist'han✅]] (the “real” world). The differentiation of people - and the associated cultural, economical, and social consequences - do not translate into species or ethnicities, but entering books is not rare or miraculous. What is rare—and dangerous—is **staying**. Book walking is a known but deeply misunderstood phenomenon that shapes culture, power, and silence. --- ### 1. Book Walkers - Some people are **book walkers**, others are not. - Book walking is **inheritable**. - It exists on a **spectrum**, not as a binary trait. - Each book walker experiences book walking **highly individually**: - which books they can enter - how entry happens - how long they can stay - what risks arise --- ### 2. Social Analogy (Neurodivergence Model) Book walking functions socially like neurodivergence: - Some book walkers are celebrated as **talented** (arts, science, innovation). - Others are labeled **disabled**, unstable, or dangerous. - Many hide their abilities to avoid stigma. - The same underlying trait is split ideologically into: - “gifted book walkers” vs. - “broken book walkers” This split is **false** but culturally dominant. --- ### 3. Ideology & Power - Society rewards **productive dissociation**: - book walking that generates value is praised - book walking that produces vulnerability is pathologized - There is a strong cultural myth that “talent” and “disability” are different phenomena. - This myth supports exclusion, hierarchy, and silence. --- ### 4. Medical & Cultural Discourse - From roughly the 1980s–2010s, book walking is framed by a biased, reductionist medical discourse. - This discourse emphasizes control, normalization, and suppression. - More recent perspectives are: - more accurate - more relational - but still marginalized and stigmatized - There is **no reliable authority** that fully understands book walking. --- ### 5. Training, Language, and Risk - Book walking without **language, mirrors, and relational support** is dangerous. - Untrained book walkers risk: - burnout - dissociation - loss of self-reference - addiction to books - Some develop harmful traits as coping strategies (e.g. control, grandiosity). The danger is **not imagination**, but **isolation**. --- ### 6. What Books Are - Books are **not locations**. - A book is a **relational space** between a mind and meaning. - No two people experience the same book in the same way. Implication: - Entering another person’s book means entering *their relation to meaning*, not just a shared world. --- ### 7. Staying - Visiting a book is common. - **Staying too long is taboo and feared.** Folk belief (not necessarily fully true): - You don’t die in books. - You **dissolve**: - memory erosion - loss of relational anchors - inability to return People who stay too long are often said to be “lost.” --- ### 8. Entering Another Person’s Book - Following someone into **their** book is: - highly dangerous - often considered impossible - socially taboo - Many disappearances are associated with this act. - Peter believes he can do this—**and that belief is one of his core mistakes**. --- ### 9. Thematic Function The magic system externalizes the core theme: > Love is not earned through readiness or mastery. > It becomes possible through presence and relation. - Society teaches mastery. - Book walking punishes isolation. - Healing comes through shared stories, witnesses, and connection.
